Mercure Grosvenor Hotel AdelaideThe Mercure Grosvenor Hotel – Adelaide (also known as Ibis Styles Grosvenor – Adelaide) has an OFFICIAL star rating of 4 and an UNOFFICIAL star rating of 3 room online booking sites.

The night before we had stayed staying at the Mercure Grosvenor Hotel – Adelaide we stayed in another 4 star hotel which was less than pleasing so we had high expectations that maybe this hotel would be different.

Unfortunately it wasn’t and this is my review of the Mercure Grosvenor Hotel. Reception staff were less than welcoming, in fact they were quite rude and dismissive as if we weren’t good enough to stay there (I’m a Platinum Card Holder). We booked a Classic Queen Room and unfortunately there was nothing Classic about it. The room was so small the Queen bed had one side pushed up against the wall whilst the other side had only enough walking space before you ended up in the ensuite, which itself seemed like a storage cupboard. I went to use the iron and ironing board but there was no where for it to fit. The mini bar had nothing in it, no water, complimentary milk, nothing. It did however had a kettle to make a coffee but you had to unplug the fridge or tv or move it to bedside table. The coffee cups were stained. It was quite cool in our room and there were no extra throws or blankets. Then there was the noise outside our partly opened window which we couldn’t close. The room service was NIL as in there was no room service, no changing towels or making beds. Phoned reception to request a clean but they said the cleaners are done with our area and there was no one to do the clean – I came close to saying… do you know who I am?

Needless to say, not impressed, they certainly don’t meet the Official 4 Star Rating, and it should be reviewed again even the unofficial star rating of 3 is too high. I would NOT RECOMMEND this hotel to anyone at all. In fact we went back to the hotel we stayed in the night before and found it far better the second time around having something worse to compare it too.

To get an Official 4 Star Rating that had to have meet score highly in 3 key areas:

1. Quality and Condition

2. Cleanliness

3. Facilities and Services

For Quality and Condition they would have scored between 65 – 74%, I would have scored them 40%, for Cleanliness they would have scored between 85 – 94%, I would have score them a definite 70%, for facilities and Services they would have scored between 60 – 69%, I would have give a percentage of between 30 – 35%
